Victories

DREAM Act has a rough road to get passed.

The legislation that is known as the DREAM Act gives a pathway to undocumented immigrant students so that they would be able to gain citizenship. The supporters of the DREAM Act are sure to face a hard path ahead of them to get this needed legislation passed in the next few weeks. Even with the bill getting passed in the House last week, it will have a much more harder battle in the Senate chambers. Why you may ask? Well, the legislation will need 60 votes so it would not be subject to a filibuster by the Republicans. If the bill does get the needed votes it will end up on President Obama desk, to sign it into law.  Advocates for this bill defend that it gives children of undocumented immigrants the chance to reach their full potential while helping out the country indoing so by either going into college or the military. The detractors of this bill contends it only rewards law-breakers and takes jobsaway from United States citizens. The Senate is supposed to vote on the DREAM Act either the end of this week or next week.
