The good work of Catholic Charities.

The Catholic Charities of the United States was founded in 1910 on the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. The National Conference was founded to advance the formation of diocesan Catholic Charities bureaus and to promote professional social work practice, to give a spirit of fellowship among those in charitable clergies and to be the advocate for the poor. Catholic Charities provide essential social aid to people in dire straits, regardless of their religious beliefs, social standing, or economic backgrounds. They also advocate for, and enable the underprivileged, downtrodden or susceptible and do this on a non-discriminatory basis. The recent disaster in Haiti is just another affirmation of the churches devotion to humanity in this time of crisis. We can all learn from their example in this matter.
