Govenor Richardson speaks at LULAC convention.

With only a little over five months left in his second term as New Mexico's Governor, Bill Richardson (D) spoke at the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Convention this past week. He was greeted warmly and especially after he denounced Arizona's new immigration law. The Arizona law that makes law enforcement check a person's immigration status during routine stops if the officer believes he has just cause to believe that person may be an undocumented immigrant. Gov. Richardson also announced he would hold a meeting of border Govenors both in America and Mexico and it will be held in Santa Fe in late September of this year. Not surprising, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer canceled the planned meeting in Phoenix after the Mexican Govenors announced they would boycott the event to show their repulsion to Arizona's new immigration law. Richardson said he would not allow communication to pass by just because of the misguided actions of one state.
