Victories

Score: Federal Government 2 - Arizona State 0

Federal District Judge Susan Bolton reined back the State of Arizona yesterday by not granting the state of Arizona's motion to throw out the case against them and then did one better and blocked major points of Arizona's new immigration law mere hours before it would be the law of the land in Arizona. This is just round one of possibly many battles but it is a huge one that goes to the Obama administration as it seeks to put Arizona in its place and any other state that thinks they can overstep their boundries. Judge Bolton stopped numerous provisions to Arizona's law but the main sticking point to the law was the section in it that made law enforcement ask a persons immigration status when detained or arrested, if the officer thought the person was not a documented immigrant. In Judges Bolton's 36 page ruling, she proclaimed that the United States would incur irreversible harm if the court does not take action in these matters. She added it is in the interest of everyone for this court to block this law. Senator Russell Pearce, the person who was the main instigator of this law, commented that he was "very disappointed" by the Bolton's desicion. But much like an only child being scolded and put in his place for his wrong doings he tried to blame the judge for his ill-concieved bill that got passed into law.
