DREAM ACT
Nothing is more heartbreaking to me as an immigration attorney then seeing young people who are full of possibilities and not being able to reach their true potential due to no fault of their own. Of course, I am talking about children who have been brought to the United States at a young age, some times just days old. They have grown up in this country, gone to school here, made friends here and all their experiences and loyalties are to this country. They are Americans in every true sense of the word, they were just born in another country. I think everyone can agree they had no say in that matter. I see this all the time, high school kids who are straight "A" students and have been offered full scholarships to Colleges and Universities in the United States and even in other countries. Their dreams are to become doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, scientists and other admirable professions. They simply cannot realize their dreams because their parents brought them into the United States illegally and they have no way to legalize their status and continue their education with the current U.S. immigration system we have today. The resources and money that was spent educating them and the positive things they could do for our country are lost all due to something they had no control over. As children they had no choice where their parents took them to live and they certainly had no choice but to remain here in the United States. It is completely illogical to think that a child who has grown up here, speaks English, reads and writes English is going to return to their country of birth where they know no one, have no familiarity to the culture and are not fluent enough in the language spoken in that country to survive. That is simply ridiculous and unrealistic to ask anyone to put themselves in that situation. The DREAM ACT is the solution to this problem. It would allow young people in this situation to legalize their status and benefit themselves and our country. They would have to prove they have been in the United States a cerrtain amount of time, that they have no criminal issue and that they want to continue onto higher education or enlisting in the military. If they could do this, they could become active citizens in the futher developement of our country.

DREAM ACT
Nada es más doloroso para mí como un abogado de inmigración después de ver a los jóvenes que están llenos de posibilidades y no ser capaz de alcanzar su verdadero potencial debido a causas ajenas a su voluntad. Por supuesto, estoy hablando de niños que han sido traídos a los Estados Unidos a una edad temprana, a veces sólo unos días de edad. Han crecido en este país, fueron a la escuela aquí, hizo amigos aquí y todas sus experiencias y las lealtades son a este país. Son los estadounidenses en todo el sentido verdadero de la palabra, se les acaba de nacer en otro país. Creo que todos podemos estar de acuerdo que no tenía voz en esa materia. Veo esto todo el tiempo, los niños de secundaria que son rectas "A" los estudiantes y se han ofrecido becas completas a colegios y universidades en los Estados Unidos e incluso en otros países. Sus sueños se conviertan en médicos, abogados, ingenieros, profesores, científicos y otros profesionales admirables. Ellos simplemente no pueden cumplir sus sueños, porque sus padres los trajeron a Estados Unidos ilegalmente y no tienen forma de legalizar su situación y continuar su educación con el sistema de corriente de los EE.UU. de inmigración que tenemos hoy. Los recursos y el dinero que se gastó la educación de ellos y las cosas positivas que podían hacer para que nuestro país se han perdido todo debido a algo que no tenía ningún control. Como los niños no tenían otra opción donde sus padres los llevaron a vivir y, ciertamente, no tenían otra opción que permanecer aquí en los Estados Unidos. Es completamente ilógico pensar que un niño que ha crecido aquí, habla Inglés, lee y escribe en Inglés va a regresar a su país de nacimiento, donde no conocen a nadie, no tienen familiaridad con la cultura y no se habla lo suficiente en la idioma hablado en ese país para sobrevivir. Eso es sencillamente ridículo y poco realista pedir a nadie que ponerse en esa situación. El Acta DREAM es la solución a este problema. Esto permitiría a los jóvenes en esta situación para legalizar su situación y beneficiarse a sí mismos y de nuestro país. Tendrían que demostrar que han estado en los Estados Unidos una cantidad cerrtain de tiempo, que no tienen ningún problema penal y que desean continuar en la educación superior o alistarse en el ejército. Si pudieran hacerlo, podrían convertirse en ciudadanos activos en el desarrollo posterior de nuestro país.
