People (Sheriff Joe Arpaio) who live in glass houses...

The Board of Supervisors is ordering documentation from Sheriff Joe Arpaio in regards to a probable misappropriation of detention funds. If Arpaio does not come forth with the documents he would be in jeopardy of being in contempt of court and possibly arrested, a county spokesperson announced. Arpaio's superiors have repeatedly ordered this information since March, but they have yet to get any kind of real information on this matter from the sheriff says spokeswoman Cari Gerchick. The documentation requested revolves around personnel inconsistencies, and other discrepancy noted by county management. A memorandum from Sandi Wilson a Deputy County Manager, implies that the amount of money has been considerable and reveals that Arpaio's favored campaigns are typically the ones that has been largely enhanced. Arpaio's human-smuggling unit looks like money has been paid out to six officers using detention funds. That is over $430,000 in wages and benefits. Then almost $715,000 in wages and benefits was billed to the detention funds which appears to have paid officers that were engaged to crack down on Prop 100. (This proposition was urged by Arpaio and the past County Attorney Andrew Thomas to refuse bail to undocumented immigrants.) Arpaio's superiors are not playing around and have put a deadline of May 7 for the sheriff to abide by the law, which by the way he has sworn to up hold.
