Victories

Brewer angry over other countries being heard in immigration appeal.

Jan Brewer, the Governor of Arizona is upset over a court ruling that allows other countries to file a friend-of-the-court brief in an attempt to overturn a ruling that knocked down the heart of the state's new immigration law and stopped it dead in its tracks. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is allowing eleven countries, including Mexico to present their opinions in the case. Arizona's attorneys tried to argue, unsuccessfully, that other countries have no reason to present testimony whether or not the Arizona law is unlawful. Brewer was outraged by what she calls meddling of other governments in an American legal issue. It appears that Ms. Brewer and the Republican party are a bit dense when it comes to immigration matters. The United States is not an island alone in the world. This country must remember that it is one of many countries. That is why immigration law is a federal law, it deals with this country's relationships and dealings with other countries all over the world.
