Is the GOP dissing Hispanic and Muslim Voters?

With the growing rhetoric involving the immigration issue, amending the 14th Amendment and a proposed Islamic center in New York, this brings into question if the Republican party really wants to alienate two voter bases that was very good to them during the Bush Administrations. George W. Bush went out of his way to win Muslim voters in his first campaign, securring almost 80 percent of the Muslim vote in 2000, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations. This percentage dropped like a rock in 2004, with the two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Bush administration attempted to pacify American Muslims by trying to point out the difference between terrorists and the peaceful Muslim community. Not to be left out the Bush administration tried to appease the Hispanic community with a nomination of Alberto Gonzales as the first United States attorney general of Hispanic decent. He even knew the importance of the Hispanic and Latino vote and supported amnesty for undocumented immigrants, and even tried speaking Spanish when campaigning. His efforts were successful in the elections were he took 35 percent of the Hispanic vote in 2000 and almost 45 percent in 2004. In the more recent elections, Muslims, have turned away from the Republican party and if the rhetoric continues are likely to turn away even further. Muslims that are Republicans admit that the rhetoric will turn away their constituency if it continues to go on and fester. Former House of Representatives, Saghir Tahir, a Pakistani-American Republican who served in New Hampshire almost 10 years, commented that he believes there will be a very negative reaction to dragging religion into politics. He went on to say that he has communicated with a huge number of people that are Republicans and they overwhelming say that bring religion into politics will turn them away from the GOP. These are the people and businesses that have assisted Republicans to get elected in the past it makes no sense why they would do this.
