Democrats in the US Senate call on President to halt deportations.

Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.), and other top Democrats asked the president this Wednesday to halt the deportations of undocumented kids who grew up in this country. Over twenty Democrats in the Senate put their signature on a letter which urged President Obama to use his executive powers to stop the deportation of kids that could have been helped by the DREAM Act had it passed last year. As you may recall the DREAM Act, came up short by a handful of votes at the end of last year. The DREAM Act would have permitted undocumented immigrants who where typically brought into the United States as babies, to be allowed to remain in the country if they either went to college or enrolled in the armed services. Of course on the other side of the aisle, Republicans are opposed to any kind of DREAM Act legislation. While the White House supports a passage to the DREAM Act bill it has yet to show any signs of hampering deportations of children.
