Sacramento Immigration legislation DOA.

Yesterday, legislators shutdown two bills that would go after undocumented immigrants in California. This legislation was trying to require that everyone have their immigration status check who is trying to get a job or public benefits. As mentioned in yesterdays blog, the main driving force behind this bill was a tea party member Tim Donnelly. The chance of this legislation was next to impossible to get passed in the San Bernardino County, which is controlled by Democrats. The main reason for the bills were to try and stop what Donnelly called "sanctuary cities," in California. Democrats denounced the the legislation as unconstitutional and useless waste of time and manpower. The leaders of businesses annouced it would hamper business and take away jobs, while police agencies said it would reduce public safety and take away manpower from serious crimes.
