Alabama's immigration law is heralded by it's supporters as "the toughest in the nation" on illegal immigration. But since this racist and misguided law went on the books back in September, it has had some very ill effects for it's citizens. One of the most damning is how Alabama is seen around the globe. In the past 20 years the state has made great strides to move into the 21st century and try to get rid of the the good ol'boy stereotypes while trying to win companies like Airbus, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and ThyssenKrupp to their state. But with the arrest of Detlev Hager, a German executive from Mercedes-Benz, and then recently a Japanese employee of Honda this is not going unnoticed by these companies and other countries looking to do business in the United States. Now there are many factors that are taken into consideration to locate a business in a state such as, available land, cost of labor, taxes etc. But some other factors are taken into account as well such as business climate, schools, inviting community among other factors. If these current events continue, Alabama and more directly its citizens will be the one hurt by this racist law of companies not even looking to locate their business in Alabama. To lose potential business coming to your state and NOT even be aware of it should concern every citizen in Alabama because it will affect their quality of life in loss of revenue and income.
