Sheriff Joe Arpaio Investigation Finds Abusive Practices
Well they say timing is everything and after a 3 year investigation into Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), for alleged abusive practices, the Department of Justice (DOJ) released its findings yesterday that Arpaio's office did indeed display repeated patterns and practices of civil rights abuses, which also involved severe cases of racial profiling. The majority of these atrocities and violations were against immigrants, Hispanics and Latinos. This forced the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to put its cooperation agreement in limbo with Arpaio's office and limit the MCSO’s ability to obtain information in the immigration databases through the Secure Communities program. The DOJ also reported that constitutional abuses were running rampant in Maricopa County. Of these abuses, racial profiling was horrendous by the MCSO traffic stops and found that “Hispanics and Latino drivers were more likely to be pulled to the numbers of 4 to 9 times more likely then non-Hispanic/Latino drivers. With this recent announcement it also shows the crucial issues that are going before the Supreme Court in its review of Arizona’s SB 1070. This law is trying to take over the role of the federal government in favor of state law enforcement getting into immigration matters. Even the best case scenario of states having authority in immigration matters presents an enormous amount of difficulty and politically motivated problems into the mix. And as we all feared under the worst case of scenarios, such as Sheriff Arpaio’s MCSO, it is the poster child for what can happen when state and local law enforcement agencies are in charge of enforcing immigration laws. It's not like we didn't tell every "We told you so but...We told you so"!

Sheriff Joe Arpaio investigación revela prácticas abusivas
Bien dicen que el momento es todo y tras una investigación de tres años en la Oficina de Maricopa Joe Arpaio, alguacil del Sheriff del Condado (MCSO), por supuestas prácticas abusivas, el Departamento de Justicia (DOJ) dio a conocer sus conclusiones ayer que la oficina de Arpaio, efectivamente, muestran patrones repetidos y prácticas de violaciones de los derechos civiles, entre ellos también los casos graves de discriminación racial. La mayoría de estas atrocidades y violaciónes estaban en contra de los inmigrantes, los hispanos y latinos. Esto obligó al Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS) para dejar su acuerdo de cooperación en el limbo con la oficina de Arpaio y limitar la capacidad del MCSO para obtener información en las bases de datos de inmigración a través del programa de Comunidades Seguras. El Departamento de Justicia también informó de que los abusos constitucionales fueron proliferando en el Condado de Maricopa. De estos abusos, la discriminación racial fue horrible por las paradas de tráfico MCSO y encontró que "los hispanos y los conductores latinos fueron más propensos a ser tirado a la cantidad de 4 a 9 veces más probabilidades que los conductores non-Hispanic/Latino. Con este anuncio reciente también muestra los temas cruciales que se van antes de que el Tribunal Supremo en su revisión de la medida SB 1070 de Arizona. Esta ley está tratando de asumir el papel del gobierno federal a favor de la aplicación de la ley estatal de entrar en asuntos de inmigración. Incluso el mejor de los casos de los estados que tienen autoridad en materia de inmigración presenta una enorme cantidad de dificultades y problemas de motivación política en la mezcla. Y como todos temían en el peor de los casos de los escenarios, tales como MCSO Sheriff Arpaio, es el niño del cartel para lo que puede suceder cuando las agencias de ley locales y estatales de aplicación son los encargados de hacer cumplir las leyes de inmigración. No es que no se lo dije a todos los "Te lo dije, pero ... Te lo dije"!
