Undocumented Student Takes His Own Life Worried About College.

A young life was snuffed out way too early, Joaquin Luna was just 18 years old. He was a senior at Juarez Lincoln High School in Mission, Texas and his dream was to attend college. But because he knew he was brought into the United States as an undocumented immigrant he knew his chance to go to college was practically impossible. Joaquin had lost all hope to attend college, his family told reporters, so on the Friday after Thanksgiving, he dressed in a suit, gave each member of his family a kiss, then went into the bathroom were he put a gun to his head and shot himself, said family members. Letters were found later by his family from Joaquin that told about his worries being in the United States as an undocumented immigrant. Joaquin letter also told about how dishearten he was about the DREAM Act not being passed by Congress. Legislation that would help some undocumented children become legal immigrants if they have been in the country for more than five years and go to college or serve in the armed forces. Many Republican still denounce this legislation (DREAM Act) as amnesty. One such person is GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann (R-MN), who is still spewing out rhetoric that it would just be a magnet to encourage others.
