Immigration bill approved by House committee.

Yesterday the Kentucky House committee passed a bill with no opposition that would make it mandatory for governments on the state and local levels, along with any private contractors they hire to run a background check on the immigration status of every potential employee by using the federal Internet database, E-Verify system. The Bill is named, House Bill 3 which will go to the full House, which has previously passed other versions in 2009 and 2010. The sponsor of the Bill, Rep. Bob Damron, D-Nicholasville mentioned that previous bills that made it out of the House has been killed in the Senate. The architects of these bills believe the main reason why undocumented immigrants come to the United States is because they are looking for work that they can not find in their home country. Initially, House Bill 3 only went after companies that were successful in getting a contract from local and state governments to run a background check but Damron replaced the verbiage to encompass the governments themselves.
