With Representative Steve King (R) introducing a bill called, H.R. 140, in the United States House of Representatives at the end of business on Wednesday, which is looking to strip constitutional rights of citizenship encompassed in the 14th Amendment. Which I might add has a very entrenched Supreme Court precedent in this matter. It is also very ironic that on the day this legislation was introduced members of the 112th Congress had just went to the House floor to recite the United States Constitution in its entirety, which also included the 14th Amendment, confirming their public pledge to serve, protect and defend the Constitution. Since the creation of our Constitution it has assured United States citizenship to every baby born in the United States, with very few exemptions. Birthright citizenship is America’s assurance to civil rights, tolerance and fair play under the law. This disgraceful bill wants to take away these rights by revising the citizenship clause to only allow citizenship to 3 categories of people. 1) Offspring of United States citizens or nationals. 2) Offspring of permanent residents. 3) Offspring of non-citizens in active-duty military service. This subversive scheme would renounce citizenship to a big portion of United States society containing United States born babies of parents which have legal standing. Some in this category are foreign investors, scientists, engineers, refugees, artists, athletes, scholars and graduate students to name a few. This proposed Bill desecrates the constitutional rights of anyone that is born in the United States and who are under its jurisdiction. This is still America, where everyone's rights are established by fairness and equal treatment under the law. It should not be determined by who your parents are, what they may or may not have done, or if current politicians accept them.

Algunos republicanos quieren cambiar 14 ª Enmienda.
Con representante Steve King (R) la introducción de un proyecto de ley denominado, HR 140, en la Cámara de Representantes de Estados Unidos a finales de los negocios el miércoles, que busca despojar a los derechos constitucionales de la ciudadanía que abarca en la 14 ª Enmienda. ¿Qué debo agregar tiene un muy arraigada precedente de la Corte Suprema en esta materia. También es muy irónico que el día esta legislación se presentó a los miembros del Congreso había 112 acaba de ir a la Cámara de recitar la Constitución de Estados Unidos en su totalidad, que también incluyó la 14 ª Enmienda, lo que confirma su compromiso público para servir, proteger y defender la Constitución. Este esquema subversivo sería renunciar a la ciudadanía a una gran parte de la sociedad estadounidense que contienen los Estados Unidos bebés nacidos de padres que tienen la capacidad jurídica. Algunos en esta categoría son los inversionistas extranjeros, los científicos, los ingenieros, los refugiados, artistas, deportistas, académicos y estudiantes de posgrado para nombrar unos pocos. Este proyecto de ley profana los derechos constitucionales de cualquier persona que nace en los Estados Unidos y que están bajo su jurisdicción. Esto es Estados Unidos, donde los derechos de cada persona son establecidos por la equidad y la igualdad de trato ante la ley. No se debe determinar por quiénes son tus padres, lo que puede o no haber hecho, o si los políticos actuales aceptarlas.
