Georgia Citizens Protest New Immigration Law in Atlanta.

This past weekend hundreds upon hundreds of people which comprised mainly of labor union members, protested Georgia's new immigration law this past Saturday in Atlanta. The Georgia's new immigration law is looking to single out undocumented immigrants. This is the most recent event to take place to show support to get this bigoted law thrown out by pro-immigration groups. At the rally was the Reverend Al Sharpton who spoke at the event to the audience gathered there. He talked about how this law violates civil and human rights and that it can only promote racial profiling of American citizens and anyone of a different color, other then whites. Then Union secretary-treasurer Lee Saunders spoke as well and said, "We're still a country that believes all people should benefit from human rights," and "I think we've got to make our voices heard on the assault on workers, the assault on immigrants across this country." As you know earlier a federal judge stopped Georgia's new immigration law from going into effect temporarily until this law is deemed constitutional. The two main parts of the law that are in dispute are: 1. Letting law enforcement officers check the immigration status of anyone stopped by them and 2. Allowing the state to penalize people who, in the act of committing a crime knowingly give aide or transportation to an undocumented immigrant.
