New Mexico Governor makes Foreigners get Licenses Checked.

Yesterday, Republican Governor Susana Martinez office made it known that 10,000 foreign nationals who currently have a New Mexico drivers license have been randomly picked and they must make an appointment with the Deptmarment of Motor Vechicals (MVD) to get their recidency checked. Anyone that does not comply or is unable to provide proof of their residency will have their license revoked. Martinez's office explains that the residency certification program is only seeking information about how the program has issued driver licenses to people living out of the state. Of course as many of you already know the Governor opposes allowing undocumented immigrants driver licenses and many pro-immigration groups are outraged by this latest action on the part of Martinez. It appears to many that the Governor is just adding requirements to already existing drivers licenses and many question who is next, teen drivers, elderly drivers with add restrictions to their licenses? These types of legislative decision need to be thought out carefully and with representation of all its citizens. And at a time where New Mexicans need their elected official to work to bring new jobs to the state, Martinez seems to be ignoring her duties and try to divert the attention away from her lack of leadership and manage skills and trying to make scapegoats out of undocumented immigrants.
