Victories

Birmingham march against Anti-immigration law.

Yet another Anti-immigration march occurred this weekend this one was held in Birmingham, Alabama. The march was a candlelight vigil that went through the city streets and wound its way to Linn Park. The crowd that showed up was figured to be around 2,500. The reason for the march was to protest Alabama's recent harsh new anti-immigration law. One of the organizers of the event was the Greater Birmingham Ministries along with many other church organizations. This biased immigration law is scheduled to go on the books on Sept. 1, 2011. Many Pro-immigration groups have already announced they will challenge this law in the federal courts. Alabama is one of a handful of states that have passed racists immigration laws designed to go after undocumented immigrants. No other state has gotten all of their immigration laws enacted fully through the Federal courts.
