Victories

Federal Judge needs more time to ponder Georgia Immigration Law.

The federal judge who entertained claims from both sides on Georgia's new immigration law was United States District Judge Thomas Thrash . As you may know this new immigration law is going after undocumented immigrants and is being contested by civil liberties groups in an attempt to stop Georgia from enacting such a law. Thrash was in court yesterday and listened to both sides from the Pro-immigrant groups that are protesting this law and the attorneys from the state of Georgia who want the case thrown out. After listening to both sides the judge announced he would take more time to ponder over the matter. The Pro-immigrant groups hold fast that the law is unconstitutional, while the state says these groups have no authority to challenge this law and that the state has every right to make this law. Georgia is just another of a handful of states to copy Arizona in trying to pass tougher new immigration laws, which needless to say none have gotten past the federal courts.
