Victories

High Court agrees with California on Undocumented Immigrants.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court ruled on the side of a California law which lets undocumented immigrants that resides in the state lower in-state tuition allowance at public universities, these are the identical allowances that state residents benefit from. The justices did not publish any explanation for their reasoning to the decision yesterday. They did however turn down an appeal from out-of-state students going to California schools. Their claim was that it was not right that American students should not have to pay extra for being out of state and could possibly be charged up to $20,000 more than undocumented immigrants who live in California. They also argued that the undocumented immigrants are treated special and that infringed on federal law. This win from the Supreme Court is a huge win for immigrant rights organizations and immigrants across the country. There is numerous states that allow undocumented immigrants discounted rates on in-state tuition, California is just one of them.
