ICE says it has changed how it does business.

United States Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) put out a statement the end of last week declaring changes they have put in place when it comes to policies on how they enforce rules. The reason for the change is to concentrate on more urgent criminals and hand federal lawyers more leeway on the way they enforce immigration policies in an effort to focus on the most serious criminals and to give government field attorneys more responsibility when making policy decisions. A lot of these changes came from many states and local police agencies, John Morton the Director of ICE announced last week. One of the changes is to the Secure Communities program. This program is a way that local police agencies can check fingerprints with federal agencies. This is a very important tool for enforcement agencies to use but like everything it can always be made better and one thing that needs to be concentrated on is the most hardened criminals to communities. Many Pro-immigration advocates have declared that past actions of  some states have stopped immigrants from reporting serious crimes in fear of being deported even if they have no criminal record.
