DHS moving on with E-Verify.

Recently, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and Director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Alejandro Mayorkas rolled out a web based adaptation of the E-verify system. This system permits someone to check their own work authorization. DHS (Department of Homeland Security) did this on March 21 of this year. This adaptation was designed to allow workers with the ability to check their own work authorization. Which in turn permits them to fix any errors in their DHS and Social Security Administration (SSA) documents prior to before getting a job. DHS is also optimistic that the self-check program will simplify the verification process for businesspersons. The E-Verify self-check program permits employees 8 business days to fix any indiscriprencies that are found. Presently, only a handful of states are available in the following states Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Mississippi, Virginia and the District of Columbia. DHS expectations are that in the next year the program will be established nationwide.
