NM driver license legislation struggles.

Governor Susana Martinez's (R) attempts to crack down on undocumented immigrant driver's licenses appears to be dying a slow death. Yesterday, just a mere day after the New Mexico Senate voted to embrace a harder stance on the present law on the books, things appears differently today. After receiving the news of her "baby" going down in defeat she called the Senate version a "sham" and vowed to get the present law repealed. Representative Andy Nuñez (I) has a more realistic opinion that the law will not get overturned. Nuñez went on to say that he thinks the governor would probably veto the Senate's version of this legislation, that is if the House would also agree to it and accept it first. Proponents for the present law contend that this law has greatly reduced uninsured motorists on our streets and in turn helps public safety because people are secure in reporting accidents and crimes. New Mexico Catholic Bishop's have made it known that while they do not endorse any type of activity that goes against laws they feels the present law serves everyone for the common good. It is very sad state of affairs when we as a people can not come together to deal with our immigration problem in this country. The federal government really needs to step in and take charge of this issue.

Intentos Gobernador Susana Martinez (R) para acabar con las licencias de conducir de inmigrantes indocumentados parece estar sufriendo una muerte lenta. Ayer, justo un día después de la mera Nuevo México, el Senado votó a favor de adoptar una postura más dura en la presente ley en los libros, las cosas hoy en día un aspecto diferente. Después de recibir la noticia de su "bebé" va en la derrota llamó a la versión del Senado una "farsa" y se comprometió a conseguir la presente ley derogada. Representante Andy Nuñez (I) tiene una opinión más realista que la ley no tendrá volcó. Núñez llegó a decir que cree que el gobernador probablemente vetaría la versión del Senado de esta legislación, es decir, si la Cámara de Representantes también estaría de acuerdo con ella y aceptar por primera vez. Los partidarios de la presente ley sostienen que esta ley ha reducido en gran medida los automovilistas sin seguro en nuestras calles y, a su vez ayuda a la seguridad pública porque la gente está segura de notificar los accidentes y delitos. Nuevo México, el obispo católico han hecho saber que, si bien no apoya a ningún tipo de actividad que va en contra de las leyes que se siente la presente ley sirve a todos por el bien común. Es muy triste estado de cosas, cuando nosotros, como pueblo, no pueden unirse para hacer frente a nuestro problema de inmigración en este país. El gobierno federal realmente tiene que intervenir y hacerse cargo de esta cuestión.
