Tesuque Pueblo Trying To Boot Undocumented Immigrants.

Tesuque Pueblo in New Mexico, is currently in the process of notifying residents of its trailer park they have until June 30, 2012, to show proof that they are residing in the United States legally. And for some people living in the trailer park namely one Alicia Olivas, who is currently in the process of becoming a legal permanent resident, it just means that her 10-year-old daughter can finish this year in her current school before she will have to find another school and a new home for them to live in. The nearly 150 residents of Tesuque Trailer Village were given notice by letter on October 17. In it, it informed the residents that they will have to sign a new rental contract and show proof that everyone in the residence is a legal United State resident. Earlier in the week, the tribal council said in a statement that Tesuque Pueblo is a sovereign government and "has the right to know and to determine who resides within the exterior boundaries of its reservation." It is believed that around 30 families will be impacted by the Tesuque Pueblo decision to require this information. It is yet to be seen if this is even legal or if pending lawsuits are to follow over this action.
