Your past consequences can and will usually haunt you and Jose Gonzales a local firefighter is finding this out the hard way. He is facing possible deportation for a conviction of a crime he had committed as a youth 15 years ago. Although he has excelled as an Albuquerque firefighter it may be all for not because of his crime as a youth. Currently Mr. Gonzales is being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in El Paso waiting to see a judge and ultimate his fate if he will be deported to Mexico. Mr. Gonzales is a Mexican national but a legal United States resident. Mr. Gonzales was detained in a nation wide sweep initiated by the Obama administration going after immigrant criminals. Gonzales attorney is contending his client is not a criminal and that the case was dismissed. ICE plays by different rules and regulations though and contents Gonzales does have a conviction and that even if he does not it will then be proven in court.
