Why Republicans Argument That States Should Be Able To Make Their Own Immigration Laws Is Wrong.
In the conservative mindset they believe everyone thinks like them or at the very least that everyone should think like them. And it is inconceivable that they are ever wrong. There are two very unmistakable flaws to that mindset. First off not everyone thinks like they do and secondly they are wrong at times just like everyone else on this planet. Now let's just say for sake of argument that the Constitution gets change allowing the States the power to govern their own immigration laws. How would this country look, well let's think about this for a second. Depending on the immigration question you are asking and where you ask it, it really varies on the answer. In actuality the country is split 50/50 on all issue dealing with immigration and undocumented immigration matters. So let's continue with the scenario that the States have the power over all immigration matters in their states. One state that may not like a certain nationality could make it against the law for anyone of that nationality to be in their state if they are not yet a citizen. But yet another state may be more open to immigrants and even allow undocumented immigrants to be in their state. I think you can start to see very quickly how divided this country would become even more. And where would it stop would you even allow a State to discriminate against an entire race even if they are American citizens? Where would it end? Bigotry and racism would be allowed to run free and unchecked. No, our founding fathers, with 18th century minds were very wise in having immigration law under federal jurisdiction. In many ways they were smart then most people in the 21st century.
