Judge Sarah Singleton Finds On The Side Of Foreign Nationals.

It was just last week we blogged about Judge Sarah Singleton who had ordered a temporary halt to Governor Susana Martinez's (R-NM) controversial driver license policy regarding foreign nationals. As you may recall the governor was trying to impose an unjust program which originally asked 10,000 foreign nationals to submit proof of their residency in the state of New Mexico in order to keep their current driver's licenses. This is something that foreign nationals and undocumented immigrants had never had to do before. District judge Sarah Singleton ruled yesterday that the state only has the power to look into a person if their letter gets returned from sender from the driver's license verification program. Around 3,000 letters have been returned. Martinez has commented that she still believes in the license verification program. She went on to say that the law which permitted 10,000 foreign nationals to receive New Mexico driver's licenses in a span of over eight years is menacing, and leads to deceit. That's a bit of an ass backward assumption, what is next out of her administration trying to stop all New Mexican citizens from getting a New Mexico driver's license just because someone may try to obtain one illegally?
