Utah's Anti-Immigration Law Put On Hold.

In Utah the federal district court yesterday allowed a petition by the Utah Attorney General’s Office to hold off on a hearing with regards to Utah's anti-immigrant law. The AG office asked for the postponement because the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) could possibly be getting involved in the form of filing a lawsuit. The DOJ has yet to file a lawsuit against Utah’s anti-immigration law, but they have with other states such as Arizona and Alabama trying to push through racist and bigoted immigrant laws. Originally the hearing was slated for Utah’s immigration law, HB 497, for Friday but now has been pushed backed to November 18. The law has been temporarily halted because of a class action suit coming from the ACLU, ACLU of Utah and National Immigration Law Center.
