Brewer Blocks Federal Deferred Action Recipients Drivers' Licenses

President Barack Obama's deferred action plan has offically started but that doesn't mean everyone is embracing it. Take for example Arizona Governor Jan Brewer who has released a strongly worded executive order which prevents deferred action recipients from receiving driver's licenses or any other unspecified "public benefits" in Arizona. This is no real surprise coming from Brewer, she is maintaining her bigoted and racist views in regards to immigration. The federal governments' stance is that immigrants that are in this category should be permitted to have a driver's license under the REAL ID Act passed back in 2005. There are exceptions to every rule and this case it is that states can opt out of the REAL ID Act's requirements for any number of reasons, and there has been a few states that have went this route. Now Brewer has decided by an executive order not to give any benefits to undocumented immigrants in the form of drivers licenses. In her order she said that "providing any benefits to the young people would have significant and lasting effects on the Arizona budget." Pro-immigrant rights organizations rebutted this nonsense by simply saying that it makes no sense to give young people the right to legally work but stop them from legally driving to their place of work. These groups will start their campaign to encourage everyone to apply pressure to these racists states to allow them the ability to obtain a drivers license.
