Chatholic Church And Martinez Differ Over Driver's Licenses

New Mexican Governor Susana Martinez (R) meet with Archbishop Michael Sheehan along with other Catholic bishops yesterday for breakfast. They then meet privately at the State Capital to discuss such topics as abortion and Martinez's driver licenses policy. While both the governor and the bishops agreed on the subject of abortion they could not come to an agreement on her latest efforts to repeal the 2003 state law which permits undocumented immigrants from getting a drivers license. The bishops once again stated their position that the current law is humane and allows undocumented immigrants a chance to better themselves while driving to and from work. Martinez did not even have the courage or common decency to respond to the bishops statement in regards to the driver license issue but did later say she will still try and get this law repealed. While Martinez is said to have went to Catholic school as a child it is not known if she is an active member of the church or not.
