Data Shows Real Problem With NM Driver Licences

The Associate Press (AP) requested information regarding New Mexican driver's lisence data to see if they could find any fraud in the system. The Martinez administration turned over the information with sensitive information replaced with generic identifying number in its place, because state law requires this information to remain confidential. In a nutshell what the AP found was that in the time period from 2003 to 2011, when the driver license policy took effect for undocumented immigrants, 170 addresses in New Mexico had 10 or more drivers licenses being issued to undocumented immigrants to them. Some other violations that were found were people claiming to live at business residences. Hardly, the massive amount of fraud that the Martinez camp has tried to decieve New Mexicans in to believing that our state is a magnet for undocumented immigrants to come to get a drivers license. But the real finding was that New Mexico's Motor Vehicle Divison (MVD) has as arcacic and outdated computer system that does not allow them to automatically identify when numerous driver licenses have been issued to the same address. I have no doubt that the Martinez administration will address this "real issue" to the problem and rush right out and get a new and modern computer system to replace the old one to help protect its citizens. This would then fix the real problem here which is an outdated computer system at the MVD and finally put an end to all the rhetoric of trying to stop all immigrants from recieving a New Mexico drivers license.
