New Mexico MVD Gets Sued by Ex-employee

Recently a story broke last week about how a past New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) employee was not permitted to converse in Spanish to non-English speaking immigrants looking to renew their drivers license. Then when she made her disproval known that they were discriminating against Hispanic and Latino immigrants she was hastily fired. A civil rights lawsuit was filed last Thursday on behalf of Laura Montano by the Mexican American Legal Defense And Education Fund. According to the lawsuit the MVD violated the federal Whitleblower Protection Act, when Ms. Montano was fired after she let her objections be known that the MVD was practicing numerous bigoted, inappropriate and discriminatory guidelines and practices, the lawsuit went on to say. All this is coming to light right as Governor Susana Martinez (R) is trying to once again push her bigoted policies to take away undocumented immigrants driver licenses from them this upcoming political election year.
