New Mexico MVD to Use New Tactic

The New Mexico motor vehicle division will soon be using new technology to verify foreign nationals that are trying to get a New Mexico drivers license. This is just yet another attempt by Gov. Susanna Martinez's (R) administration to go after anyone who is fraudulently trying to obtain a New Mexico drivers license. The New Mexico Department of taxation and revenue has the authority to determine which documents it will allow as proof of in-state residency and the secretary of the department, Demesia Padilla has announced that the department will no longer accept residency affidavits to be used by license applicants. The department claims it is fighting reoccurring battle of fraud because New Mexico is a haven for undocumented immigrants or criminals trying to obtain a New Mexico drivers license. Even with this latest measure Padilla admits it will do little to stem people from illegally obtaining a New Mexico drivers license. The Martinez's administration does not seem concerned in finding a real solution to this problem and only appears to be hell bent on trying to repeal the 2003 law allowing foriegn nationals from recieving a New Mexico drivers license.
