Undocumented Oklahomans fighting for DREAM Act

In the town of Tulsan undocumented immigrants went to the streets recently to fight for immigration reform. Their sole mission was to ask for DREAM Act legislation from Congress so that undocumented children would be able to serve in the Armed Forces or go to college. Needless to say the majority of Democrats are in favor of the DREAM Act, which also President Obama fully supports. This type of legislation has been batted around for over a decade and still has yet to be passed. The DREAM Act would allow children whose parents came in the United States illegally and were not born here the avenue to be able to gain citizenship or a Green card. In order to receive these benefits the child has to graduate from high school and then either go into college or enlist in the Armed Forces for at least two years. Some people and groups don't agree with this method, they don't see these children as human beings at all. In their eyes they are subhuman "illegal" and need to be treated as such. It must be a sad existence for them to live a life of hatred because if you can hate a child that is innocent and did nothing wrong what does that say about the kind of person you are.

Oklahoma indocumentados luchan por DREAM Act

En la ciudad de Tulsan inmigrantes indocumentados salieron a las calles recientemente para luchar por la reforma migratoria. Su única misión era pedir la legislación DREAM Act en el Congreso para que los niños indocumentados sería capaz de servir en las Fuerzas Armadas o de ir a la universidad. Debe ser una triste existencia para que puedan vivir una vida de odio, porque si se puede odiar a un niño que es inocente y no hizo nada malo, ¿qué dice eso sobre el tipo de persona que eres.

Pew Research Poll: Obama 67 - Romney 27

The latest Pew Research poll which came out last month shows that Hispanic and Latino voters are siding with President Obama by an overwhelming 40 points: 67 percent to 27 percent. In comparison to the last presidential race Sen. John McCain (R-Az) had no support from these two communities when he lost to Pres. Obama back in 2008 that margin was just a mere 13 points. With this kind of data showing Mitt Romney having little to no chance of winning the presidential race all Republicans are trying to weigh in and show albeit their halfhearted effort to back their man Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts. Recently McCain has come out using a tactic of trying blaming the Democrats for immigration reform not being passed in Obama's first year. And while it is true a handful of Democrats did vote down the DREAM Act, nearly every Republican voted it down. Some how in McCains brain this relates to the Democrats not wanting comprehensive immigration when his party almost unilaterally has voted against comprehensive immigration reform. McCain is actually giddy over Arizona's new racist immigration law saying he believes it will help in border security. Just another Republican who has not gotten the memo that eight years of President Bush's administration wrecking our economy and now it is actually better to stay in Mexico, even with all the drug cartels than trying to cross the border illegally into the United States. That is truly one way of solving our illegal immigration problem but I daresay most Americans disagreeing with the Republican solution to this issue.

Encuesta del Pew Research: Obama 67 - 27 de Romney

Con este tipo de datos que mostraron que Mitt Romney, que tiene poca o ninguna posibilidad de ganar la carrera presidencial todos los republicanos están tratando de opinar y mostrar aunque sea su esfuerzo a medias para apoyar a su hombre, Mitt Romney, ex gobernador de Massachusetts. Recientemente, McCain ha salido con una táctica de tratar de culpar a los demócratas para una reforma migratoria que no se pasa en el primer año de Obama. Y si bien es cierto un puñado de demócratas votaron por el DREAM Act, casi todos los republicanos que votaron en contra. De alguna manera en el cerebro de McCain esto se relaciona con los demócratas que no quieren integral de inmigración cuando su partido casi de manera unilateral ha votado en contra de una reforma migratoria integral. McCain es realmente vertiginoso sobre nueva ley de inmigración de Arizona racista, diciendo que cree que le ayudará en la seguridad fronteriza. Sólo otro republicano que no ha recibido la nota de que ocho años de gobierno del presidente Bush de arruinar nuestra economía y ahora en realidad es mejor quedarse en México, incluso con todos los carteles de la droga que intentaban cruzar la frontera ilegalmente a los Estados Unidos. Eso es realmente una forma de resolver nuestro problema de inmigración ilegal, pero me atrevo a decir que la mayoría de los estadounidenses en desacuerdo con la solución de los republicanos a este tema.

Democrats Want Comprehensive Immigration Reform Republicans Not So Much

Well with it being a election-year it is no surprise that politics is on the minds of our lawmakers in Washington. It is nice to see though that a senior Republican has presented legislation that would increase the number of temporary visas for skilled technical workers not US citizens from the United States Senate yesterday. Unfortunately there isn't much hope anything will happen with this legislation until after the election-year just because it is that time of year where lawmakers really play politics and don't want to give their opponents any credits so close to an election-year. Senator John Cornyn, a senior Republican is on a panel that supervises immigration, and has presented legislation that would allow an additional 55,000 visas every year to graduates that received a Masters or doctoral degree and who have studied at United States research centers.This is just one of a number of immigration legislation that is being introduced in Congress this year and it is yet to be seen if it will play out in the arena of the presidential race. Some analysts doubt if anything will come out of these bills being introduced just because of the mere fact that it is a political season.

Los demócratas quieren integrales republicanos reforma migratoria no So Much

Bueno, con él que es un año electoral no es de extrañar que la política es en la mente de nuestros legisladores en Washington. Es agradable ver a pesar de que un republicano de alto rango ha presentado una legislación que aumentaría el número de visas temporales para trabajadores calificados y no técnicas de los ciudadanos de Estados Unidos desde el Senado de los Estados Unidos ayer. Desafortunadamente no hay mucha esperanza nada va a pasar con esta legislación hasta después del año electoral, sólo porque es esa época del año donde los legisladores realmente jugar a la política y no quieren dar a sus oponentes los créditos tan cerca de un año electoral . NM Governor Susana Martinez Blasts Romney On Immigration

Well New Mexico Gov. Susanna Martinez is back in the headlines once again. This time for a rather unorthodox maneuver where she is criticizing Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on his immigration views. Gov. Martinez was questioning what does "Self deport even mean?" She went on to say that she has no doubt that Hispanics and Latinos alike have been alienated during the Republican primaries but this can all be rectified. Gov. Romney must address this issue and have some plan for real comprehensive immigration reform. Martinez believes that the Republicans must cram down the throats of Hispanics and Latinos that president Obama missed on his campaign promise four years ago of getting comprehensive immigration reform passed (like they don't already know this?). I guess the governor has forgotten some minor little issues that were occurring during Pres. Obama's first year in office such as a financial meltdown, the housing and car crisis, two wars just to mention a few little things. In a surprising statement Martinez even said she supported comprehensive immigration reform although it is unclear what type of reform she is talking about. But she went on to say that the GOP wants to be hard on "illegals" and just wish them away. Even Martinez knows this is a much more complex issue than just wishing in one hand and doing something quite different in the other hand and seeing which one fills up first. I must say Martinenez is still touting the Republican rhetoric of increasing border security when in fact just recently reports showed that there is no illegal crossings going on currently. Thanks in part to president Obama more boots on the ground policy in the border states. We do have to give the governor kudos for her stance on wanting a guestworker program for people who want to go back and forth to work. Also, she is in favor of some sort of DREAM Act legislation for a pathway to citizenship as well as a way for other undocumented immigrants to stay in the United States and pursue a legal way to get naturalized.

NM Gobernador Romney ataca a Susana Martínez sobre inmigración

Bueno, gobernador de Nuevo México Susana Martínez está de vuelta en los titulares una vez más. Pero ella continuó diciendo que el Partido Republicano quiere ser duro con los "ilegales" y sólo les deseo lo mejor. Incluso Martínez sabe que esta es una cuestión mucho más compleja que simplemente deseen en una mano y haciendo algo muy diferente en el otro lado y ver que uno se llena primero. Debo decir Martinenez sigue promocionando la retórica republicana de la seguridad fronteriza cada vez mayor, cuando en realidad sólo recientemente los informes mostraron que no hay cruces ilegales que van en la actualidad. More Farmers In Alabama Putting In Fewer Crops

A number of Alabama farmers have said that they will plant fewer crops in an attempt not to have to pick such crops as tomatoes and other produce that would just rot on the vines. Farmers do not want two consecutive years of rotted produce because they simply do not have the manpower to pick the produce after the state went after undocumented immigrants a year ago. A number of growers including Keith Dickie have said they just don't have the ability to produce as much crop in Alabama’s tomato country. There is just so much uncertainty that they have to reduce the amount of produce they plant because they fear they will not have enough workers to pick all the delicate produce. A number of farmers don't even have enough people to harvest the produce after Governor Robert Bentley signed Alabama's immigration law last fall. Many legal immigrants along with illegal immigrants left the state in fear of retribution. Other farmers simply have just stopped planting the more labor-intensive crops that need to be hand-picked and went to cotton and peanuts which can be harvested by machines and don't require as much labor. It Is yet to be seen the exact number of farmers that are diverging away from the more delicate fruit type crops and also if it will have any effect on consumers seeing shortages at their supermarkets and produce stands. The saying you reap what you sow is so ironic in this circumstance.

Feds Start Lawsuit Against Arizona Sheriff Arpaio

Well as the saying goes you just can't help some people and that saying is so true in the case of the Justice Department in trying to work with Arpaio in an attempt to negotiate a settlement this past February while it failed miserably because Arpaio and his office "would not agree to any settlement that included an independent monitor" so that any recommendations would be assured to be put in place. As you may recall back in December, the Justice Department made it known that they had reasonable cause and evidence that showed that the sheriff's office "had practiced in a cycle of misconduct that goes against the Constitution and federal law." Also, under the guidance of Arpaio, he promoted discrimination tactics against Hispanics and Latinos when preforming routine traffic stops, detentions and arrests. But the injustices did not end there, Arpaio permitted abuses against Hispanics and Latino inmates who had no or very small English speaking skills by abusing them and not allowing them essential services. As if that wasn't bad enough the Justice Department also discovered that Arpaio and his office practiced in a pattern of unlawful retaliatory behavior against anyone who criticize or question Arpaio and or his office. Arpaio would use bogus criminal charges, unsubstantiated civil lawsuits and meritless administrative actions. Enough was enough and the Justice Department which gave Arpaio every chance possible but finally were left with no other options but to file a civil complaint in United States District Court against the sheriff, his department and the county. We have said it before and we will say it again, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Ya era suficiente y el Departamento de Justicia que dio Arpaio todas las posibilidades, pero finalmente se quedaron con ninguna otra opción que presentar una demanda civil en los Estados Unidos Tribunal de Distrito contra el sheriff, su departamento y el condado. Immigration Haters, Hating Mitt Romney

With a mere six months until the November election candidate Romney is hearing the clock ticking. Many Republican lawmakers who are trying to voice their opinion on illegal immigration were in Washington talking about this topic. That event was set up by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) one of the bigger anti-immigration groups which would like to see all immigration stopped in the United States. How ironic it is that an anti-immigration group could help defeat a Republican from getting into the White House. It appears when you have racist views they really don't care about anyone else other than their distorted viewpoints. Many people that support these types of organizations say they don't even know where Romney stands on immigration and even if he came up with a policy they highly doubt they would believe him. Of course now Romney is even more in a pickle since he needs the Hispanic and Latino voters to have any chance of winning the White House but then he also needs everyone in his base voting for him if he will have any chance of winning the White House.

Los enemigos de Inmigración, que odia a Mitt Romney

Romney Says Obama Bad On Immigration But He Doesn't Even Have A Plan

With the Republicans realizing it needs the help of the Hispanic and Latino voters for Romney to have any chance of winning the White House they are starting to go after this community in hopes to gain voters for the November election. In thier attempt to gain voters the Republicans are going to harp on the president for deporting more immigrants and not getting immigration reform passed as he promised his first year in office. In thier very next breath they would say he has not done enough to stem the tide of undocumented immigrants into the United States. You can see where this is going and where the Republicans are in a quandary because he is taking a tougher stance then the last two presidents about deporting undocumented immigrants with criminal pasts and then blamed for it when Republicans did not help pass immigration reform at the end of last year. All this would just be politics as usual were it not for the mere fact that we are in a presidential race this year and their Republican candidate has no immigration policy out for the public to see. So who is really the problem here?

Romney dice que Obama Bad sobre inmigración, pero él no tiene ni siquiera un Plan de

Usted puede ver dónde va esto y donde los republicanos están en un dilema, porque está tomando una postura más dura que los dos últimos presidentes de deportar a los inmigrantes indocumentados con un pasado criminal y culpó por ello, cuando los republicanos no ayudó a la reforma de la inmigración pase a la final del año pasado. Todo esto no sería más que la política de siempre si no fuera por el mero hecho de que estamos en una carrera presidencial de este año y su candidato republicano no tiene una política de inmigración hacia fuera para que el público vea. Entonces, ¿quién es realmente el problema aquí?

Catholic Cardinal Timothy Dolan Demands Comprehensive Immigration Reform

The very outspoken and compassionate New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan is demanding for real comprehensive immigration reform in the United States. What the Cardinal is trying to do is keep the controversial immigration laws such as Arizona and Alabama on the front headlines so people can see how really racist these laws are which permits police officers to look at someone's immigration status during a routine stop if they are suspected of being in the country undocumented. He said in no uncertain terms that this is “not Christian” and “not American." Many believe this Irish American Cardinal, is in the running for the number one position in the Catholic religion and could be Pope someday. Cardinal Dolan went on to say that the Republican party has to “come up with a much saner, more civil, more just immigration policy.” Lastly Dolan said, “When you have a policy that splits up families, when you have a policy that drives people underground, when you have a policy where now the government, whether it be in Arizona or Alabama, it would be like demanding that our charity organizations such as our soup kitchens to demand documentation before they supply people with nourishment, a roof over their heads or healthcare, that’s not right. That’s not Catholic. That’s not Christian. That’s not religious. And it’s not American.”

El cardenal Timothy Dolan, exige una reforma integral de inmigración

El muy abierto y compasivo cardenal de Nueva York, Timothy Dolan, es exigente para una verdadera reforma migratoria integral en Estados Unidos. Real Comprehensive Immigration Reform Needs To Be Tackled On Many Fronts

For true comprehensive immigration reform to work the federal government needs to have a better handle on controlling our borders more effectively. This entails a number of factors – such as who would be allowed to enter United States and once they have entered the country then keeping better track of them. But this goes way past security we have to fix and lessen the amount of time that immigrants looking to come to the United States for either education or employment have to wait. Of course we need to monitor people who are overstaying their visas or who are a true threat to the citizens of this country. There has to be something in place to make it where immigrants can freely come and go out of the country but then be able to come back into the United States with proper permission. Anything less would be counterproductive and only scare people to where they try to hide, which would only make it more difficult to enforce our immigration laws. This is so doable and a true solution can be found on both sides of the aisle because it is what the country needs and what is best for the country. The time has never been more right to get comprehensive immigration reform on the books which is in everyone's best interest.

Para una verdadera reforma integral de inmigración para trabajar el gobierno federal tiene que tener un mejor manejo en el control de nuestras fronteras con más eficacia. Esto implica una serie de factores - como la que se le permitiría entrar en los Estados Unidos y una vez que han entrado en el país, entonces mantener un mejor control de ellos. Pero esto va manera más allá de la seguridad que tenemos que corregir y disminuir la cantidad de tiempo que los inmigrantes que buscan llegar a Estados Unidos, ya sea para educación o el empleo tiene que esperar. Por supuesto que tenemos que controlar a las personas que están caducado el visado o que son una verdadera amenaza para los ciudadanos de este país. Tiene que haber algo en lugar de hacerlo libremente, donde los inmigrantes pueden entrar y salir fuera del país, pero a continuación, ser capaz de volver a los Estados Unidos con el permiso adecuado. Time Is Now For Congress To Fix Our Broken Immigration System

The Pew Hispanic Center, has recently put out a report that the number of undocumented immigrants coming into the United States through Mexico has all but ended. Every mass migration as it's ebbs and flows starting from the 1800 and they have all come to an end one way or another. This hot topic for the Republicans has been going on for over the past 10 years in regards to "illegals" invading our borders by the masses. There are many reasons for the decline in the numbers of undocumented immigrants crossing our borders from Mexico but all experts agree that the main reason is the sluggish economy that eight years of the Bush administration brought upon us which brought us on the verge of economic collapse. Also, their are fewer jobs in the construction industry in the United States to attract this population of people. Another reason is there are fewer younger people in the workforce in Mexico which is also keeping this population in their country. Maybe now without all the rhetoric coming out of the Republican Party that our borders being invaded by unskilled and undocumented workers we can work towards truly getting comprehensive immigration reform passed.

El Pew Hispanic Center, ha presentado recientemente un informe que el número de inmigrantes indocumentados que llegan a Estados Unidos a través de México tiene todo, pero terminó. Tal vez ahora, sin toda la retórica que sale del Partido Republicano que nuestras fronteras están invadidas por trabajadores no calificados y los indocumentados que podemos trabajar para hacer realidad conseguir una reforma migratoria integral aprobada.

Massachusetts Governor Denouces Arizona Style Immigration Laws

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick (D) has come out and denounced Arizona and Alabama for their draconian immigration policies. Earlier in the week Patrick delivered a speech at Tufts University where he stated that such states have ham-fisted, are self-defeating and even racist in regards to their immigration stances. Patrick went on to say that he feels these states only fuel hysteria and are more harmful on correcting our real problem which is that our immigration system is broken. It is no secret that politicians used this issue for political gain on both sides of the aisle but the real differences are that the Democratic Party is more interested in keeping families together where as the Republican Party takes little pity on anyone that they can see is "illegal." Now the federal government also has a part to play in this mess by not addressing our broken immigration system. Now there are many reasons for this one being we have a two-party system and the party in power controls how we handle our immigration matters. This leaves to a very ineffective system where different policies keep changing in regards to immigration. It is hard enough for one agency to be consistent with its policymaking decisions but now before the Supreme Court they will decide if states can play some role in how the United States handles its immigration issues as well. If the high court uphold that Arizona's new immigration law or even parts of it are constitutional it will only complicate our immigration system which is already over complicated.

Gobernador de Massachusetts, Arizona Denouces Leyes de Inmigración de estilo

El gobernador de Massachusetts, Deval Patrick, (D) ha salido y denunció Arizona y Alabama por sus políticas de inmigración draconianas. A principios de semana Patrick pronunció un discurso en la Universidad de Tufts, donde declaró que tales estados tienen torpe, son contraproducentes e incluso racista en lo que respecta a las posturas de inmigración. Patrick llegó a decir que se siente estos estados sólo la histeria de combustible y son más dañinos en la corrección de nuestro verdadero problema que es que nuestro sistema de inmigración está roto. No es ningún secreto que los políticos usan este tema para obtener beneficios políticos a ambos lados del pasillo, pero las diferencias reales son que el Partido Demócrata está más interesado en mantener unidas a las familias, donde el Partido Republicano tiene poco de piedad con nadie que puedo ver es "ilegal ". Ahora el gobierno federal también tiene un papel que desempeñar en este lío por no ocuparse de nuestro sistema de inmigración roto. Ahora bien, hay muchas razones para esto uno de ellos que tienen un sistema de dos partidos y el partido en los controles de potencia forma en que manejamos nuestros asuntos de inmigración. Esto deja a un sistema muy ineficaz en las diferentes políticas van cambiando en lo que respecta a la inmigración. Es bastante difícil para una agencia para ser coherente con sus decisiones de formulación de políticas, pero ahora ante la Corte Suprema que decidirá si los estados pueden desempeñar algún papel en la forma en que Estados Unidos maneja sus asuntos de inmigración, así. Si el alto tribunal mantener esa nueva ley de inmigración de Arizona o incluso partes de él son constitucionales que sólo servirá para complicar nuestro sistema de inmigración que ya es más complicado.

Democrats Hope For Best But Plan For The Worst On Supreme Court Decision

Senate Democrats are taking no chances and have made plans to put a vote on the Senate floor in regards to legislation that would make Arizona’s controversial immigration law null and void if the Supreme Court sees in favor of it later this summer. Senator Charles E. Schumer (D-NY) has announced the fallback legislation at a hearing on the Arizona law. This legislation has a slim chance of passing where the Senate is evenly divided not to mention getting passed by a Republican controlled House. What this vote would do is permit Democrats to use their electoral power with the Hispanic and Latino voters right when the presidential race starts to fire up this summer. The idea is that it gives the Democrats a venue to show their repulsion for Arizona's racist immigration law if the high court permits it to stand. What this will do is force Republicans to take a stand on this racist law during the peak of the presidential race. Arizona's immigration law is greatly despised by Hispanic and Latino voters, which could determine our next president and a number of Senate races.

Is Supreme Court Playing Politics on Healthcare And Immigration Reform

At the end of last year when the United States Supreme Court announced it would hear a number of controversial lawsuits, it made a number of people stand up and take notice. After the High Court announced it would hear arguments in regards to president Obama national healthcare reform law and then just weeks later announced they would also hear arguments in regards to Arizona's controversial immigration law did things get interesting. Really, two high profile cases appear right before the presidential election, how coincidental is that? Is the High Court just really playing politics hoping that it will help conservative politicians? Some insiders even believe that the real reason the Supreme Court took on both of these high-profile and controversial cases so closely together is so that they will null each other out. Some believe that the High Court will overturn the healthcare reform while knocking down the most controversial parts of Arizona's immigration law. Both these cases are pretty evenly split among the American voters, leaving some to believe that if the High Court does rule in favor for the Republicans in both of these matters it would do more harm than good with the backlash against their party. It will be interesting to see how this plays out after the court hands down its decisions on these matters, and how the American voters react to these decisions on election day.

Algunos expertos incluso creen que la verdadera razón por la Corte Suprema tomó en estos dos casos de alto perfil y controvertida en forma tan estrecha es para que se anulará el uno al otro. Marchers Show Solidarity In Immigrant Rights Supreme Court Case

This year's Milwaukee's annual May Day march for immigrant rights went through the south side then through downtown while finally ending up in Veteran's Park at the lakefront. As usual thousands showed and and many carried signs with phrases like "Stop Ripping Families Apart" and "Education not Deportation" during the march. This march has been happening every year since 2006. Its purpose is to bring attention to our broken immigration system and to help bring comprehensive immigration reform to our nation. Even with the huge turnout that showed up at this year's march, the numbers were down from previous years and the immigration march is usually the largest in the nation. This year's May Day march in Milwaukee and throughout the United States concentrated on the Supreme Court's hearing on whether the controversial Arizona SB-1070 is constitutional. The Arizona immigration law which permits law enforcement officers to ask about someone's immigration status when they have "reasonable suspicion" to think that, that person may be in the country illegally. The federal government has challenged this law because it claims that immigration laws is solely under the jurisdiction of the federal government and not the states. One spokesperson for the event said that "We want to send a clear message to the Supreme Court and to politicians who represent the wealthy that we are united in rejecting racism and prejudice." We couldn't have said it better.

La ley de inmigración de Arizona que permite a la policía para preguntar sobre el estatus migratorio de una persona cuando tienen una "sospecha razonable" pensar que, esa persona puede estar en el país ilegalmente. El gobierno federal ha impugnado esta ley, ya que afirma que las leyes de inmigración se encuentra exclusivamente bajo la jurisdicción del gobierno federal y no los estados. Un portavoz para el evento, dijo que "Queremos enviar un mensaje claro a la Corte Suprema y de los políticos que representan a los ricos que estamos unidos en el rechazo contra el racismo y los prejuicios."
