Albuquerque Detention Lawyers
Has a member of your family or a friend of yours either been arrested or detained by ICE? If so this can be a very terrifying and nerve racking time in your families life. Your first hurdle will probably be to just find out if ICE has your loved one in custody or not. You will need to either call ICE directly or you can go to the ICE website using this following link to their Online Detainee Locator System.
There are two ways you can search for your loved one online. Either by the A-number that was assigned to them after they have been processed by ICE and then their birth country as well. ICE recommends using the A-number if you have it but if you do not, the second way you can do a search is just by their name and birth country. You will be able to do a search of your loved one up to 60 days after ICE has taken them into custody. Please be advised that ICE will not give out any information over the Online Detainee Locator System for anyone that is younger then the age of 18 years old.
Once you have obtained your loved one's A-number from ICE you can use the Online Detainee Locator System to determine if they have moved your love one to a different detention center. Please keep in mind that immigration law is under federal jurisdiction. What this means is that just because someone was picked up by ICE at a certain location does not necessarily mean they will be taken to or held at the nearest detention center. They can be transported to another city or even another state at any time.
Let's say for an example, that someone was picked up by ICE agents in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The nearest detention center is located in
Chaparral, New Mexico at the Otero County Processing Center in New Mexico. Now if that detention center has no available space to hold the person they could for example be transported to the El Paso Processing Center. It just really depends on where the available space is at the detention centers as to which detention center that person will be located. Try to keep this in mind when you are trying to find your loved one.
Below we have supplied the Otero County Processing Center and El Paso Processing Center links which has other important information regarding the two detention centers. Hopefully you will never need to use these links but if you do we hope that you find this information useful to anyone that has a loved detained near Albuquerque, New Mexico.
